Portraits & Frames
Each portrait begins with a family photograph or mostly Victorian photograph found at flea markets and vintage shops. I enjoy recreating my past and trying to bring that, as well as strangers, to life again. Micron pen, layers of watercolor, gouache, and acrylic paint are combined to give each portrait a unique feel. Some faces and people are obscured; they are people who may be related but their lives are unknown to me. Each frame is built in foam board, created by the same drawing and painting process, and designed on the front, sides, and back to capture the personality or era when they lived. I'm also starting to recreate objects from my past, such as the register grate pictured below that was in my grandparents house in Ohio, which now serves as a hotplate in my kitchen. I've also included a large memorial frame commissioned for an artist's drawing of a deceased pet. If interested in having a portrait done or even a piece from your past done, check out my pricing page and send me an email! Thank you for taking the time to view my work.
